To enable the "Appear Offline" status for all users, run the following command from the Lync Server Management Shell:
Get-CSClientPolicy | Set-CSClientPolicy -EnableAppearOffline:$trueUsers will need to sign out and back into Lync to see the new status for the first time.
Strangely, users are unable to sign into Lync using the "Appear Offline" status. They must sign in first (preferably as "Away"), then set their status as "Appear Offline". Also be aware that this status is not available when users sign in using Exchange Outlook Web App (OWA).
I've try it, but cannot appear at my lync client ?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIf the user was in "appear offline" and signed out, the next time the user logs in, it will set your presence to "appear offline" as soon as you have logged in. But, you don't have an option to set to "appear offline" while logging on, but you can login offline ;)

You are correct, Rajith. If you manually set your status in Lync, it will "stick" until you select "Reset Status".
ReplyDeletekrisna, you need to wait a few minutes for the change to replicate.
ReplyDeleteHey Jeff... Thanks for this information. With new Lync mobility clients for Android and Apple, I was wondering if this status would applicable for them or not..??
ReplyDeleteHi Manish, I can confirm that it does not apply to the mobile client. I can definitely see a reason to do this, though. Let me check into it and if it's possible, I'll write a new article on it.
